Description

HOTEL

Brimming with Victorian eccentricity, The Gore hotel represents a piece of British history. Since it opened in 1892, in an enviable location among the high-life hotspots of Kensington and Knightsbridge, it has been celebrated as one of London’s most enchanting hotels.

From antique carved beds to original paintings, each of the six floors is a treasure trove of period details and hand-picked piecesThe Gore is the perfect base for discovering the many attractions the capital has to offer. It is just a short walk from Kensington Palace, the flower-lined avenues of Hyde Park, the fascinating collections in the Natural History Museum, London’s temple of music – the Royal Albert Hall – and the most fashionable shops in Knightsbridge, including Harrods.

Each of The Gore’s 50 rooms and suites is unique, with its own sophisticated elegance. Furnished with hand-picked pieces, period artworks and ornate beds, they are often described as some of the most enchanting in London.

The Gore’s sophisticated interior makes it a unique and unforgettable venue for business meetings and private events, with three conference rooms and a lavish bar able to accommodate up to 50 people.

ACCOMMODATION

All of The Gore’s 50 lavishly appointed rooms and suites are individually furnished, creating a distinctive atmosphere that makes each one truly unique.

They are all furnished with sophisticated elegance and a keen eye for detail, with beautiful antiques, period photos and ornately decorated beds.

Many of the rooms stand out for their bright colours, opulent gilded mirrors, heavy roped drapes, carved oak four-poster beds, wooden writing desks and other original antique pieces.

In harmony with the hotel’s distinguished charm, all the rooms offer every possible comfort and discreetly integrate the latest technology, including a safe for valuables, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi  and a well-stocked minibar.

The bed linen, bath robes and towels are by Frette, a luxury linen specialist, adding an exquisitely Italian touch of comfort, quality and style.

DINING

190 QUEEN’S GATE

With many dishes as British as the hotel itself, the A La Carte menu at 190 Queen’s Gate captures the imagination with its simplicity and fullness of flavour. The creation of our Chef, there is nothing fussy or extraneous here. The dishes are contemporary classics, prepared and presented in a captivatingly modern way.

Their provenance is always a matter of pride, with many being sourced locally. Our carefully curated wine list includes many old favourites and some rare surprises.

Pre-theatre menu

190 Queen’s Gate is perfect accompaniment to concerts and other events at The Royal Albert Hall. You can begin your evening here thanks to our set pre-theatre dining menu. If you are attending a signature event at The Royal Albert Hall, we strongly recommend you reserve a table.

BAR 190

While original wooden panelling and lavish furnishings dominate the hotel , the walls of the bar at The Gore have a distinctly rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Bar 190 is best known as the location for the launch and photoshoot for The Rolling Stones’ 1968 album Beggars Banquet, and the decor pays tribute to this event.

Bar 190 serves an extensive range of spirits, with notably large collections of whiskies and rums. The creative cocktail list takes full advantage of this huge variety, extending from classics – such as Martini and Negroni – to a range of gin and tonics based on botanical and citrus infusions.
